WHO TO CALL IN RADIATION EMERGENCY
(NOTE: The contacts listed below may change and we may not have updated our web site. Hence, it is advisable to find your emergency contacts before a radiation emergency occurs)
If you are exposed to radiation, report it to the department/agency/organization issuing the dosimeter. Unfortunately, there is no one national or international phone number or location to report individual exposure. However, if you are an individual user of the dosimeter, and if you are exposed to radiation, contact :the followings:
- City police bomb squads and/or fire hazardous materials units
- State police and/or emergency response divisions, National Guard civil support teams
- Local FBI field office
If an accident or other emergency involving radioactive materials occurs, report it to the National Response Center at (800) 424 8802 or, in the Washington, DC area 202.267.2675. Staff at the National Response Center (NRC) are on-duty 24 hours per day, 365 days per year to take calls about pollution incidents. The NRC immediately relays each report to the pre-designated Federal On-Scene Coordinator, as well as other affected federal and state partners. Other agencies include the following:
